The Nikon D70 Digital Camera
All photography on this website is shot with the Nikon D70 digital SLR, which was just recently released from Nikon in late March. I picked the camera up April 3rd, 2004, and hastily headed out and snapped 300 photos of just about everything I could find. Packed with loads of buttons, features, and gadgets, the D70 hosts an array of settings that can be tweeked to individual specifications to deliver a variety of different camera results.

Nikon D70The D70, while making waves throughout the entire digital SLR segment, is mainly touted as Nikon's answer to Canon's August 2003 release of the Canon EOS 300D (Digital Rebel).

For all the hype the Nikon D70 has generated among the digital photography, and in particular, the digital SLR crowd, the D70 packs a tremendous punch and has done an excellent job living up to expectations of these digital SLR enthusiasts and giving the Canon EOS 300D a run for its money.
Digital Camera Accessories
I am currently using the following Tripod and camera bag accessories:

  • Quantaray - QSX Ultra Pro - Excellent tripod.

  • Lowepro - Nova 2 AW - An excellently crafted camera bag with ample room for growth.
  • The Lens
I'm currently shooting with the lens that comes with the kit. Specifications for this lens are:

  • Compact 3.8X zoom covers portrait to wide view (76 at 18mm to 22 50' at 70mm)

  • Internal Focusing (IF) for smoother operation and great balance.

  • 18-70mm f3.5-4.5G ED-IF AF-S DX Zoom

  • For more information on the lens, please read the excellent review given at DPReview.
    Digital Photography Filters
I am currently using the following filters with the Nikon D70:

  • Quantaray - Skylight 1A - Lens Protector, glare reducer from ultra violet rays

  • Quantaray - Circular Polarizer - Darkens blue skys and reduces the effect of atmospheric haze. Helps elimate reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as glass and water.

  • Quantaray - Close-up +3 - Enables close ups without a Macro lens (poor mans macro).

  • Hoya 67mm R72 Infrared Filter - Great filter for black & white and colored IR.
